With the November elections right around the corner, now is the ideal time for a discussion on the intersection of politics and social media. And we couldn't have two better people to lead the conversation.
Jenny Stromer-Galley is an expert on the political uses of social media. She's also an associate professor in Syracuse University's School of Information Studies, vice president of the Association of Internet Researchers, and associate editor of the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication. Jenny recently published "Presidential Campaigning in the Internet Age," Oxford University Press, 2014), an examination of how presidential campaigns have changed over the last 20 years. She is currently working on a massive project studying the social media and websites of all major contenders running for governor in 36 states.
Michelle Breidenbach is a longtime government and politics reporter for The Post-Standard/Syracuse.com and an exceptional interviewer.
The program is taking place in the iCafe in Hinds Hall on the Syracuse University campus. Hinds Hall is the home to SU's School of Information Studies (iSchool). Both breakfast and free parking (a short walk away in Booth Garage) are compliments of the iSchool. If you're parking in the garage, simply inform the attendant that you are there for the Social Media Breakfast at the iSchool, and your parking fee will be waived.
We look forward to seeing you!
